PERSPEKTIF PENYULUHAN PERTANIAN UNTUK MEWUJUDKAN KESEJATIAN PETANI

Abstract

Agricultural extension in Indonesia has been coopted by the national interest to increase food production, or specifically to achieve self- sufficiency in  rice.  This  situation has  brought  about  the  farmers’  society dependent and ignorant, losing their sovereignity. The paper offers a perspective of agricultural extension in order to empower the farmers. As the nature of  extension is  to  promote society’s potential and  competency, its practices should have not been top-down, linear, and instructive.
